The Friend We Need

"I can imagine no truth more suited to man's needs than this. Rules, and principles, and prescriptions, and instructions in times of sorrow are all very well in their way — but what the human heart craves is a personal friend to go to, to talk to, to lean back upon, and commune with. The risen Christ, living and interceding for us at God's right hand, is precisely the Person that we need." ― J.C. Ryle

"Having a Master and Teacher means that there is Someone who knows me better than I know myself, Who is closer than a friend, and Who understands the remotest depths of my heart and is able to satisfy them fully. It means having Someone Who has made me secure in the knowledge that He has met and solved all the doubts, uncertainties, and problems in my mind. Jesus wants us in a relationship where He is so easily our Master and Teacher that all we know is that we are His to obey." ― Oswald Chambers

"We do not find Christ in the dusty annals of history. We find Christ in the hearts of redeemed men and women. He is alive forevermore, and His voice resonates within the heart of every believer. I have only one hope in life and that is to be used by God. I pray that God might humble me so that I understand that I am just an instrument in his hands." ― A.W. Tozer

Bright and Visible

"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily
I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of
the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto
me." Matthew 25:40

"God sees our care for those around us. He places a high value on the meals we make for our hungry family, the care we give to our sick relatives and neighbors, the countless drinks of water we serve to our children and grandchildren, and the welcome we offer to people by opening our home. Jesus made it clear that when we provide for others' daily needs, we're giving directly to Him. We serve Christ by serving those He loves. With this in mind, within the limitations of our hours and days we can make significant, eternal contributions by caring for those God loves. We serve in an upside-down kingdom where God is pleased with the small and unseen, with the widow's mite, the mustard seed, and the loaves and fishes. Faithfulness in the little things will make the invisible kingdom bright and visible." ― Andi Ashworth
